Nice feeling to beat Rafael Nadal thrice

Roger Federer says Nick Kyrgios is finally starting to show his potential ahead of their meeting at the BNP Paribas Open on Friday.

'Unfortunately I am unable to play today [Friday] due to sickness.

Although Nadal owns a 23-13 lead in their series, Federer has won the past three in a row, including an epic comeback in the Australian Open final two months ago.

Federer advanced to the semi-finals where he will take on American 17th seed Jack Sock on Saturday.

"I don't take these decisions lightly, these are the matches we train for, but I'm in no fit state to take the court". Doesn't matter. I just want to watch the match, you know.

At just 21, Kyrgios is also the youngest player to have snared the scalps of Federer, Nadal, Djokovic, Andy Murray and Stan Wawrinka, though his success over Murray came past year at the non-sanctioned Hopman Cup. So for me it was physically a good match.

In Acapulco, Kyrgios fired 25 aces to bring a premature end to Djokovic's first tournament since a shock second-round exit at the US Open.

"If Nick wins that match and comes out of this quarter, I believe that it signals a real shift in the power and direction of men's tennis".

May Brent crude shed 7 cents, or 0.1%, to $51.74 a barrel on the ICE Futures exchange in London . Opec producers have implemented almost 98 per cent of the agreed cuts as per latest data.

Kyrgios announced his arrival on the world stage with a thunderous fourth-round win over Nadal in 2014 on Wimbledon's hallowed centre court before upending Federer on clay in Madrid the following year. "And really, since this year, I feel super comfortable with the racquet, and I think I have also gained confidence stepping into it".

Kyrgios's 6-4, 7-6 (3) victory was a tour de force, brimming with power and precision.

Roger Federer played superbly to claim a third straight win over Rafael Nadal for the first time in his career and reach the last eight in Indian Wells.

The rivalry between 14-time Grand Slam and the 18-time winners is one of the most exciting in the history of tennis.

"I see that it's paying off, that the results are coming", Mladenovic said.

"To be back on court feeling normal again is so nice, you feel just happy and fresh and I think it translates also to my game".

Mladenovic will play the victor of a later match between 12th-seeded Venus Williams and No. 14 Elena Vesnina.
