  • The diplomatic dispute is the result of the poisoning death Kim Jong Nam half brother of North Korean leader Kim Jong Un at Kuala Lumpur's airport on Feb. 13

Foreign minister Anifah Aman has said Malaysia will soon have a formal negotiation with North Korea that will include among others resolving the diplomatic row by lifting the departure bans on citizens of each other's countries, as well as how to handle Kim Jong-nam's body.

The diplomatic dispute is the result of the poisoning death Kim Jong Nam, half brother of North Korean leader Kim Jong Un, at Kuala Lumpur's airport on February 13.

Malaysian police have fingered Hyon Kwang-song, a North Korean diplomat, and Kim Uk-il, a staffer of the North's flag carrier Air Koryo, in the very public hit on Kim Jon-nam at Kuala Lumpur International Airport.

"We've given them until April 14 to come back to us with the neutral venue, in the event that the diplomatic situation (between North Korea and Malaysia) is not solved", said John in a press conference at the AFC headquarters in Kuala Lumpur, on Wednesday.

"And those samples have been put through forensics and DNA procedures and I would like to again say that the body is that of Kim Jong Nam", said Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.

"If North Korea can not find a neutral venue, we will find one for them". He accused the regime of "holding our citizens hostage" before deciding Malaysia would do the same with North Koreans.

Two-thirds of the 39 countries that North Koreans can travel to without a visa are in Asia and Africa, including Cambodia, Mongolia, Mozambique, Tanzania and Uganda.

Zahid also said 50 North Korean workers in Sarawak would be deported because their work visas have expired, explaining that they are among more than 170 North Koreans working in mines in the Borneo state, in a government-to-government arrangement.

The motive for the hit remains unclear, but there are rumors that Kim Jong-un feared the Chinese could install his half-brother as a figurehead in a possible overthrow of his shaky rule.

Kim Jong-nam was assassinated last month in Kuala Lumpur.

On March 7, Pyongyang banned Malaysians from leaving North Korea and in a tit-for-tat move, Kuala Lumpur took the same action against North Koreans in this country.

Two women - one Indonesian, one Vietnamese - have been charged with murder but say they were duped into thinking they were playing a harmless prank.

This angered North Korea, who then barred Malaysians from leaving the country.

The North Korean government has openly criticised the investigation, disputing the cause of death as nerve gas and whether the man killed was in fact Kim Jong-nam.
