Trump met with Russian ambassador before vote

We need to stay focused on the facts, despite Trump's aversion to them.

The president of the Center for the National Interest, which hosted the speech, told The Times he introduced Trump to Kislyak at the event. Kislyak attended, and was photographed finding his seat.

Mr. Trump was at the reception for about five minutes and then went immediately to the podium. Jeff Sessions, now the USA attorney general, also spoke with Kislyak at the convention. "And if we don't do that, I don't think we'll ever know that story", McFaul said at George Washington University last week.

Top Trump aide Hope Hicks hinted at this line of defense in the days following the election. If no evidence of a wiretap is found, it means Trump perpetrated a monumental falsehood with no foundation.

Sessions is under fire for, depending on your perspective, either lying about or forgetting he had met with a Russian ambassador during his confirmation hearing. John McCain described to CBS News as "absolutely false...the information was totally misleading, totally false".

"There was no communication between the campaign and any foreign entity during the campaign", Trump spokesperson Hope Hicks said on November 11, 2016, according to AmericaBlog.

US Starts Deploying THAAD Anti-Missile Defense System in South Korea
Trump also spoke with South Korea's acting President Hwang Kyo-ahn about his neighbor's missile launches. North Korea criticises the annual drills, calling them preparation for war against it.

"Not with this Russian ambassador, no", Pelosi responded after a long pause. A serious allegation to be sure, though one for which the president has provided no proof and has confusingly said it has happened while his surrogates have said Trump "believes it happened".

'I have nothing to do with Russian Federation. A pair of tweets from McCaskill herself shows phone calls and meetings with the Russian ambassador. 'Not that I wouldn't.

"I do not think there's something going on, I think it's just a waste of time and money, no investigations needed". Democrats, at 51 percent, are about twice as likely to consider Putin's oligarchic paradise a "very serious threat". Similarly, one of Sessions' conversations with Kislyak which took place in September during what Central Intelligence Agency officials allege was the height of Russian operatives' attempts to interfere with US elections was held privately in the Alabama senator's office.

Sessions reversed course last week and acknowledged that he had spoken with Kislyak once at the Republican National Convention last July and again at a meeting in his Senate office in September in the presence of his Senate staff.

It's kind of insane how no one in the Trump camp, including Sessions, former DHS Michael Flynn, adviser Jared Kushner, and now Gordon, can remember meeting Kislyak until months after the fact. It is the thread that runs throughout this mess, whether it's Jeff Sessions' undisclosed meetings with the Russian ambassador; former campaign foreign-policy adviser Carter Page's connections to that country; Trump's own call that Russia hack rival then-rival Hillary Clinton, or the contradictory statements about the Trump empire's dealings with that country.
