Instead of snow, a planned nationwide strike on International Woman's Day is responsible.

"I think the strike has symbolic significance that needs numbers, and while there are women who cannot participate I really think those that can should", she says.

Tricia Earl, unit supervisor and academic adviser for the Women's Studies Program, said the history of International Women's Day dates back to the early 1900s.

On Wednesday, March 8, women from 30 different countries who can afford to take a day off from work are expected to go on strike for "A Day Without a Woman".

Glamour serves up "quick talking points" so women can more effectively communicate with men about what this day means.

They have scheduled rallies and other events all over the world, including here in the Bay Area, to show opposition to the policies of the Trump administration and to make a big push for women's equality.

Arsene Wenger denies falling out with Alexis Sanchez
Sanchez though, whose contract expires in June 2018, will not be allowed to dictate his future, according to Wenger. However, Wenger explained his decision as a purely tactical one and claimed he did not regret his selection.

The group behind Women's March - which organised the women's march campaign the day after Donald Trump was elected US President - is encouraging women to stay away from work on Wednesday. Organizers of the massive Women's March on Washington in January are spearheading "A Day without a Woman".

Crawley said the decision to cancel classes Wednesday was "based exclusively on our ability to provide sufficient staff to cover all our classrooms", and does not signal political support for the protest.

Inspired by striking Yemeni bodega owners in NY and the Day Without Immigrants, organizers of the Women's March called for the strike.

Women in countries around the world are set to participate in protests, strikes and walkouts over pay inequality, civil rights, violence and sexual harassment.

"Teaching is a pretty female-dominated profession; there's been some organizing around social media on the issue", said Kristen Graham, who covers education for The Philadelphia Inquirer. We stand in solidarity with these women, and we're grateful for the support of our employer and co-workers.

Because many people can not afford to miss work, there are other ways to stand in solidarity with those participating in the strike, Conrick said. Two women participating in the movement want their voices and the voices of other black women to be heard.
