'Looking London Talking Kejriwal'; CM promises London-like Delhi in one year

  • If we win civic polls we will make Delhi look like London, says CM Arvind Kejriwal

While the promise may be ambitious, Kejriwal has a number of hurdles in his way when it comes to winning the NDMC elections and then turning Delhi into something "comparable with London in a year".

He further said, "Last time, the people gave us a historic 67 out of 70 seats in the Delhi Assembly Elections". The protest was led by former Congress leaders from the area.

"The government made tall promises but failed to construct even a single school in unauthorised colonies where they are needed the most", Gupta said.

Speaking towards the end of the debate on Lt. Governor Anil Baijal's address to the house, Kejriwal pointed out that when he campaigned in Punjab and Goa, he sought votes on the strength of the AAP government's performance in Delhi.

People raised slogans against the Chief Minister and burnt his effigies, alleging the work which began four years ago was not yet completed.

"I sincerely hope the next idea is not to have a Lord Mayor of Delhi like the Lord Mayor of London", he said, as he sought to mock Kejriwal without naming him.

"We are new to politics, but with our two-year experience, we can say that they all (political parties) are hand in glove.the SP, BSP, Sharad Pawar (who heads NCP), Congress and the BJP were like a family".

Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal today said Delhi will be made as clean as London keeping its unique cultural ethos intact, seeking to clarify his earlier remarks which have been mocked by the Opposition. He said, "We do not have money to contest the election".

Appealing to people to turn up in large numbers to vote for AAP, he said, "One person should tell 100 people to vote for the AAP".

He said it was the duty of the municipal body, not the Delhi government, to keep the city clean. In Uttar Pradesh, it is Rs 2,600 for 400 units and people in Mumbai need to pay Rs 4,000 for the same. Power and water bills in Delhi have significantly come down.

However, in the civic bye-polls past year to 13 seats, the Congress finished second with four seats ahead of the BJP at three and behind the AAP, which bagged the maximum of five seats. "I don't blame you (BJP CMs), even (Prime Minister Narendra) Modi ji doesn't know what he has done", he said.
