North Korea fired four ballistic missiles into the sea near Japan early Monday morning, an apparent retaliation against last week's joint U.S.
Reacting to North Korea's action, Japanese prime minister Shinzoe Abe said, "We will not tolerate the launches, which are clearly in violation of United Nations Security Council resolutions".
North Korea fired four missiles toward the Sea of Japan on Monday morning (Sunday afternoon in Washington), sparking condemnation from China and US allies in Asia, and further ratcheting up tensions on the Korean peninsula.
Hwang also said that Seoul should swiftly complete the deployment of a usa anti-missile defense system after North Korea launched four missiles earlier in the day.
The missiles were launched from the Tongchang-ri region near the North's border with China and flew about 1,000 kilometers (620 miles), South Korean military officials said.
The ramped-up tests come as leader Kim Jong-un pushes for a nuclear and missile programme that can deter what he calls USA and South Korean hostility toward the North.

In Washington, the state department condemned the launches, saying the U.S. was ready to "use the full range of capabilities at our disposal against this growing threat". The North Korean military, in a statement carried by the KCNA news agency, called the exercises "dangerous nuclear war drills against the DPRK at its doorstep".
North Korea's missile launch also coincided with US and South Korean military's annual exercise. North Korea has denied any involvement in the murder.
US President Donald Trump this month described North Korea as a "big, big problem" and vowed to deal with it "very strongly".
The South Korean military said the missiles were launched from Tongchang-ri in the North Korean republic, where a military base is located. The tests have prompted the USA and South Korea to agree to deploy a Terminal High Altitude Area Defense (THAAD) anti-missile battery in South Korea later this year.
North Korea has regularly taken action to protest against the drills, firing seven ballistic missiles during the exercises previous year.
