A group affiliated with the Islamic State in the Philippines posted a video Monday of a 70-year-old German hostage who appeared to have been beheaded after his ransom deadline had expired.

The brief video circulated Monday by the SITE Intelligence Group, which monitors jihadi websites, shows Kantner sitting in a grassy clearing and saying "Now he kill me" shortly before a masked militant beheads him with a curved knife.

Philippine marines aboard an Amored Personnel Carrier (APC) and a truck guard a highway in Indanan town, Sulu province on the southern island of Mindanao on February 27, 2017, after reports of the beheading of German national Jurgen Kantner by the Abu Sayyaf group.

The group of Abu Rami has set the deadline until 3 p.m. Sunday to pay P30 million for the safe release of Kantner.

Sailing enthusiast Kantner was abducted from his yacht off the coast of Malaysia's Sabah state in November 2016.

A video surfaced showing the killing, and government envoy Jesus Dureza confirmed the death, according to BBC News.

The video "is not enough" proof that the execution took place, said brigadier general Restituto Padilla, a spokesman for the Philippine military.

The source said police are now locating the body and head of Kantner.

'National security advisor' Bildt was 'recommended'
Fox News's "The O'Reilly Factor" this week featured a guest with inaccurate credentials, The Washington Post reported Saturday. Swedish military and foreign-affairs officials said they have no knowledge of the man, who goes by Nils Bildt.

Abu Sayyaf has been active largely through maritime piracy since the nineties, and was responsible for the Philippines' worst terror attack, the Superferry bombing in 2004 which killed around 100 people.

It was reposted by the militancy-monitoring group SITE.

Somali pirates also kidnapped Kantner and Merz in 2008.

The Abu Sayyaf, which the USA and the Philippines have blacklisted as a terrorist organization, is holding more than 20 mostly foreign captives and local hostages.

Ridstel and Hall were beheaded in April and June past year, respectively, in Sulu for failure of authorities to pay ransom before the deadline.

"I am appealing to them to please spare the life of innocent and helpless Kantner", Dureza said in a text message to the Inquirer.

Mr Jurgen Kantner, 70, was abducted from his yacht on Nov 6 past year, in waters off Sabah.
