  • Woman's warning about shirt wrapped around car windshield goes viral

It all started on Thursday night, when 19-year-old Ashley Hardacre finished her closing shift at the Genesee Valley Mall in Flint, Michigan, and walked to her auto in the parking lot with some other girls she works with, as usual.

Instead she got in the vehicle, locked the doors and drove away.

"I knew it had to be at least some kind of intentional, what intentions I did not know", Ashley says. "I immediately felt uneasy and knew I couldn't get out to get it off", she wrote.

Hardacre certainly achieved her goal: the post reached over 100,000 shares on Facebook.

She ran her wipers, but the shirt wouldn't brush off. She told CBS News that her mother warned her about the about the trick, and she posted on Facebook to help inform others.

Nothing like this has ever happened before. There have been no other incidences like this.

Hardacre made the decision to leave the shirt on her windshield and drove to a different location she she felt safer and removed it.

Hardacre says she then tried to use her windshield wipers to get the shirt off the vehicle, but couldn't because it was completely wrapped around the wiper blade. "A lot of people think it is fake or it won't happen to them".

"I'm just hoping I can raise awareness that this can happen, and even if there wasn't an intention to do something to me it can still happen to others", she says.

Eric Almoney: "OMG so glad you're safe". The local police department is now investigating the incident along with mall security, searching surveillance footage to hopefully find the person responsbile.

Ashley contacted the shopping centre's security about the incident, and while she'll never know whether she was part of a plot to lure her out of her vehicle for sinister reasons, it's certainly something that's worth making women aware of.

From now on, when Hardacre works until closing time she said she'll ask mall security or the Flint police officer on duty to escort her to her auto - just to be safe.
