Lego Batman Movie: Making Batman great again

  • Watch: Will Arnett walks barefoot over Lego because that's what happens when you're Lego Batman

What's interesting and surprising about director Chris McKay's film is the amount of time spent on Batman's emotions. Perfectly voiced by Will Arnett, Lego Batman is a pompous, ab-obsessed, spotlight-savoring jerk.

The movie fully embraces the Batman mythos, with all of the familiar supporting characters and villains - not to mention a trove of obscure baddies that seem fake, but are actually pulled from the 75-plus years of Batman comics, movies and television shows. However, despite the deficits in plot and somewhat offputting animation style, The Lego Batman Movie is worth seeing for its comedy alone. Check out the trailer along with a poster below. "The LEGO Batman Movie" brings the ideal blend of Batman and your favorite childhood toy.

Production designer Grant Freckelton and editor David Burrows also return from The LEGO Movie, joined by editors Matt Villa, and John Venzon.

According to the Rolling Stone, the latest Batman film is the most hilarious Caped Crusader movie to date.

What's next? The LEGO NINJAGO Movie, which is slated to be released in theaters on September 22nd, 2017.

But the filmmakers truly love the character, even when letting Arnett go on blustering about his shredded abs, his mastery of machismo, and his ability to stop criminals who threaten Gotham City - despite their always coming back, again and again, like the Joker (Zach Galifianakis). And with that many figures, going from the Dark Knight himself all the way down to super obscure deep cuts like the Mime and March Harriet, our course here at ComicsAlliance is clear. Brand synergy, everybody! Seriously, though: The Lego Ninjago Movie's trailer is here, and it's a pretty good time.

"LEGO Batman" is a PG-rated movie that is probably even more fun for adults than for kiddos.

Battling evil has started to feel like a job rather than a calling and, with nothing but his gadgets awaiting him at home, the Batcave has become a lonely mancave.

The LEGO Batman Movie, also starring Mariah Carey, Michael Cera, Rosario Dawson and Ralph Fiennes, opens Friday, Feb. 10. Batman's development throughout is as satisfying as it is amusing, and honestly, it's probably the best DC movie since The Dark Knight back in 2008.

Make no mistake about it, this is essentially one big commercial for Lego's Batman products.

"The Lego Batman Movie" is an enjoyable reprieve from the live-action Bat-movie drama that is waiting for us in the future. The movie slams the comedy pedal to the floor, racing through so many visual and verbal gags that it begs to be watched a few times.
