Putin's spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters that O'Reilly's comments during an interview broadcast on Sunday were "unacceptable and offensive", The Associated Press reported.

U.S. intelligence agencies have accused Moscow of having sponsored computer hacking to help Trump win office, and critics say he is too complimentary about the Russian leader.

Russian Federation sought an apology from Fox News on Monday after program host Bill O'Reilly described President Vladimir Putin as "a killer" during an interview with President Donald Trump.

President Trump offered a fulsome defense of Russian President Vladimir Putin over the weekend, leaving Republican lawmakers frustrated and flummoxed yet again by the president's warm feelings toward the rival nation.

If Russia helps us in the fight against ISIS, which is a major fight, and Islamic terrorism all around the world, major fight.

In another excerpt from the Fox interview, Mr. Trump was asked whether it was irresponsible for him to say that three million illegal immigrants voted in the election while lacking the evidence to support that assertion. We've got a lot of killers. "Our country's so innocent?" he told Fox's Bill O'Reilly in a taped interview aired Sunday on the Super Bowl pregame show.

Many asked how conservatives would have reacted had President Barack Obama, or other Democrats, compared USA actions to Mr. Putin's.

Now the Kremlin expects an apology as well.

On Tuesday, Peskov replied to O'Reilly's latest comments by saying the Kremlin would return to the matter in 2023, before confirming it would not pursue the matter further, Reuters reported.

"I'm very opposed to sanctuary cities, they breed crime, there's a lot of problems", Trump said, as O'Reilly addressed judges ordering temporary halts to his travel ban.

TRUMP: A lot of mistakes - okay - but a lot of people were killed.

In just a quip, the USA president admitted to America's routine violence in world affairs.

"I do respect [Putin]".

Putin has called Trump a "very bright and talented man". I have no idea. "Our country's so innocent?" Russia annexed Crimea after pro-EU protesters ousted pro-Russian president Viktor Yanukovych, sparking a conflict which has cost almost 10,000 lives and plunged European Union ties with Moscow into a deep freeze. "And no, I don't think there's any equivalency between the way the Russians conduct themselves and the way the United States does".

That's a good thing.

This isn't the first time Trump has been asked about and brushed off questions about Putin's use of Russian government resources to murder dissenters. "We have the same attitude towards both domestic - federal and regional - and worldwide media", he said.
