Iran Defies Trump Administration, Tests Missile Capable of Nuclear Payload

The sanctions order comes a day after National Security Adviser Michael Flynn said the White House was putting Iran "on notice".

The US President Donald Trump has warned Tehran that a military option is "not off the table" as a response to the latest alleged missile test by Iran.

He said on Thursday that Tehran was now officially "on notice" after Sunday's missile test. "Iran has been formally PUT ON NOTICE for firing a ballistic missile.Should have been thankful for the bad deal the USA made with them!" And without anyone standing shoulder-to-shoulder with President Trump, could this be read as a pretty empty threat?

The Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) granted several exemptions to Iran in return for agreeing to limitations on its nuclear program.

Spokespeople for the White House and the State Department had no immediate comment.

The White House issued a statement Wednesday, saying Iran had been ungrateful for the agreements reached with the administration and apparently was embolden by the lack of action against some of its other moves.

When it came into effect in 2016, the Security Council lifted most United Nations sanctions against Tehran, including a 2010 ban on testing missiles capable of carrying nuclear warheads.

Uber hits the brakes in Taiwan
Uber reportedly has been offering better services than taxis in Taiwan, providing a more comfortable ride at a lower price. They say the USA startup only has permission to operate as a tech company, not to provide transportation services.

The ballistic missile testing doesn't explicitly go against the 2015 nuclear agreement between Iran and the Security Council, but Iran did agree to an eight-year ban on missile development, the Associated Press reports.

Flynn said "Iran continues to threaten US friends and allies in the region", and cited the attack Monday on a Saudi ship carried out by Houthi rebels, an Iranian-backed group fighting in Yemen. While Flynn did not specify what exactly was entailed by the warning to "put Iran on notice", Trump confirmed Thursday that anything is possible.

President Trump ratcheted up his war of words with Iran on Thursday, saying he wouldn't rule out US military action in the Middle East nation.

Sen. Bob Corker, chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, met with Flynn to discuss Iran and said he was impressed with the new administration's approach.

Bob Corker, R-Tenn., is predicting the United State will engage in a "coordinated, multi-faceted effort to push back" against the country's most recent ballistic missile test and "other destabilizing actions" in the Middle East. "I hope the Iranians are confused as well", he said.

Under previous United Nations resolutions, Iran was barred from missile launch tests.
