"They recognize that the steps that he's taken were to keep the country safe", Spicer said Monday, citing unnamed polls. But does the Trump team have any measures to filter out people like Bissonette? During the campaign Mr. Trump saw backlash after he made numerous offensive statements about women and minorities.

After the White House press secretary said the executive order was not a ban - "it's to make sure people who are coming in are vetted properly, a ban would mean people can't get in" - Kristen Welker asked why Trump used the word ban then.

"Report the offensive things he says, report the good things he does, but stop telling the American people what conclusions to reach", he said.

The introduction of the travel ban saw people detained in airports across the USA last weekend despite many having previously been granted U.S. visas or refugee status.

US -backed Iraqi forces have been battling the Islamic State group for more than two years, and are now trying to drive the extremists from Mosul, the country's second-largest city.

In a "dissent cable", being drafted for State Department leadership, the diplomats say the ban runs counter to American values and will fuel anti-American sentiment around the world.

"At some point, though, there is an obligation in the media to get the facts right", Spicer said.

Reports also suggest that the spill lead to the loss of lives of multiple Olive Ridley turtles. But locals have reported seeing dead turtles from the coast of north Chennai .

But Trump has been clear about his intentions all along.

The order was interpreted to include barring those who are legal permanent residents in the U.S., known as green-card holders.

"He has national security advisers he is listening to them and all and listening to Mattis and Kelly", said Spicer. Cummings, the aide said, has been working with Sen. Kelly was unaware that the order was being signed by Trump.

Rahnama said she waited for hours at the airport with friends and family and a growing crowd of strangers who came to support them and others whose loved ones were detained.

The order, signed last Friday, blocks Syrian refugees from entering the US indefinitely and puts a temporary hold on travelers from Iran, Iraq, Yemen, Libya, Somalia, and Sudan.

About 109 travelers were detained following the order, though the White House said Sunday all had been released from US airports. Bob Ferguson was one of 16 state attorneys general who released a statement Sunday calling Trump's immigration action "un-American and unlawful".
